Cavendish Scott, Inc.’s Lead Auditor Course is accredited by the IRCA (International Register of Certificated Auditors - UK) and recognized by the RAB (Registrar Accreditation Board – USA) and IATCA (International). The course will prepare attendees to pass the required certification examination that will be administered during the last day of class.

The course uses formal classroom sessions, discussion sessions, individual and workgroup exercises, case studies, role playing, and a real audit at an independent company to provide an intensive, varied, and effective training environment.

Daily Schedule

Registration: On the first day, attendees should arrive at 7.30 a.m. to meet the instructors, register and resolve any last minute administrative issues. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.
Optional breakfast briefing meetings will be held in the course room in the morning at 7.30 a.m. from Tuesday to Friday. Refreshments will be provided.
The course starts at 8.00 a.m. and runs to 6.00 p.m. each evening. Participants, particularly those staying at the hotel/conference facility, frequently choose to work on exercises into the evening.
10-minute breaks are scheduled during morning and afternoon sessions. Refreshments are provided for all breaks.
Lunch is provided in or near the course room. Participants are encouraged to use this time to discuss course material, work on exercises, and ask questions. Instructors are available at this time to assist with any individual questions.

Additional Materials

Upon request, optional breakfast sessions are held to reinforce or enhance the skills of attendees. Subject matter is flexible and frequently re-visits course content of the previous day or discusses preparatory material for that day’s agenda. Additional subject matter for these sessions includes issues of general interest; such as interpretation, documentation, and implementation skills to aid quality professionals with a successful ISO 9000 project or industry specific materials such as QS 9000, medical device or aerospace applications. These additional sessions are designed to add to or enhance the attendees’ knowledge of ISO 9000 to a comprehensive and advanced level.

What Prior knowledge is required?

The course is capable of taking an experienced ISO professional to an extremely advanced level. However, we provide preparatory material if you are new to ISO 9000 such that you will enjoy and benefit from the course. The mixture of skills, experience, and abilities of attendees to the course adds to the learning value.

Course Benefits

Instructors are industry professionals currently working in the development, implementation and auditing of quality management systems. The Instructors will help the attendees interpret the ISO standards for their particular application and discuss potential approaches for implementation. Real-life experiences of auditing, and of being audited, will illustrate practical approaches and solutions for dealing with both management and auditors.
Comprehensive course materials are provided for all participants. A full manual is prepared for each attendee. The manual contains: course notes, detailed explanations, and all class overheads; copies of all relevant standards e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 9004, ISO 10011; a variety of useful auditing tools such as an auditor tip sheets, audit checklists, audit worksheets, report forms, etc.
Additional material content is included to extend knowledge beyond what’s necessary for registration. During the course, valuable insight will be provided in the interpretation of ISO 9000 and its application and implementation in practical situations. This is extremely useful for an auditor who has to be able to understand how and why an auditee has interpreted and implemented certain clauses. It is obviously valuable to those responsible for interpreting and implementing the standard.

This course teaches more than just auditing. Attendees will learn to apply their knowledge in a practical way, and add value to their ISO 9000 program.
